Final: St Mary's 76, St John's 71

A great game in Moraga, but the Gaels were able to pull it out. St Johns just is not good enough on offense right now to be able to compete. They only have 2 true scorers and one of them was a joke tonight. They are very young and look promising for the future, but right now they are average. St Marys looks like a team that can get themselves back to the NCAA Tournament. I was interested to see them in the post-Omar Samhan era, and they did not disappoint. They still could use some help down low, but their guards are good enough to get them to the tourney, no question. Steindl, Dellavedova, and McConnell are all prolific three-point shooters, and should propel them into March. They were facing an average zone defense tonight, however, and I still need to see them against a good man-to-man team before I am sold. Nonetheless, a good win for the Gaels that could be good on their resume come March. I may take a nap for the Hawaii game, so if there is not a blog post for that game, thats why.
