Final: Louisville 88, #18 Butler 73

Butler did not look great in their first game back on the big stage after their magical run last march. Their offense was Shelvin Mack in the first half, and Matt Howard showed up in the 2nd but it was much too little, much too late. Their defense was awful as well. Given, it seemed as if Louisville could not miss a shot, but still, they were not playing good defense. This team looked like a shell of the team we saw in March. They lost Gordon Hayward, but there is no way a team that made the national championship loses one guy and is this bad. They started off slow last year as well, though, so let's just hope this is another slow start, and not a sign of things to come.
On the other hand, Louisville looked outstanding. They had their uptempo style working, and had players inside and outside. They were knocking down shots, killing Butler on the offensive glass, and playing great defense. They are still young, and this may have just been one of those nights where everything goes right. We will continue to monitor them as we move into the new year, but if tonight is indicative of how this season will be, they could be in for a great year in Louisville.

Game Predictions: 7 for 11, ouch
