World-Famous College Football Preview

First, I will go Conference by Conference predicting not only the winner, but the order of finish & the best offensive and defensive player in each conference for the BCS Conferences + the Mountain West. For the non-BCS conferences, I will only predict the winner of the Conference. I will also lead-off each Conference by giving a quick rundown of what to expect in the 2011 season. Here we go...

ACC
The Miami/Virginia Tech era which started in 2004, has not gotten off to the start that the conference had hoped. Although VT has been great, winning 4 conference titles since joining the ACC in 2004, Miami, which is a more nationally appealing school, has not been great and has zero titles since joining. Florida State looks to be on the rise though, and Miami is finally hitting the recruiting trail strong once again, so the conference could be on the way back up with their two brand-names looking like they're on their way back.
Atlantic Division Order of Finish:
1. Florida St
2. Clemson
3. Boston College
4. North Carolina St
5. Wake Forest
6. Maryland

Coastal Division:
1. Virginia Tech
2. Miami
3. Georgia Tech
4. North Carolina
5. Virginia
6. Duke

Title Game: Florida St over Virginia Tech

Best Offensive Player: Darren Evans, RB, Virginia Tech
Defensive: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina

BIG EAST
The Big East, frankly, is a complete joke. The only way they will gain any credibility in my book is when they get TCU into the conference next year. But, even then, they will still be far below the other BCS Conferences. West Virginia was a national power for a few years which gave the conference some credibility, but since then, their BCS track record has been nothing short of pathetic.
Order of Finish:
1. West Virginia
2. Pitt
3. UConn
4. Louisville
5. South Florida
6. Rutgers
7. Cincinnati
8. Syracuse

Best Offensive Player: Noel Devine, RB, West Virginia
Defensive: Khaseem Greene, CB, Rutgers

BIG TEN
Nebraska joins the Big Ten, and has an immediate shot to win it. The mighty Buckeyes took a tumble this offseason as they lost their starting QB and National-Championship winning Cheater, I mean Coach. It should be fairly wide open this year, although Wisconsin, Nebraska, and even Ohio State are clearly the class of the Big Ten.
Leaders:
1. Wisconsin
2. Ohio St
3. Penn St
4. Illinois
5. Purdue
6. Indiana

Legends:
1. Nebraska
2. Iowa
3. Michigan St
4. Northwestern
5. Michigan
6. Minnesota

Title Game: Wisconsin over Nebraska

Offensive: Denard Robinson, QB, Michigan
Defensive: Jared Crick, DT, Nebraska

BIG 12
This should be an interesting year as the conference goes from 12 to 10 and no longer has a conference championship game. It should be a 4-horse race this year in the Big 12, as Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Texas and Texas A&M all have solid squads that are looking to make BCS runs.
Order of Finish:
1. Oklahoma
2. Texas A&M
3. Oklahoma St
4. Texas
5. Missouri
6. Baylor
7. Iowa St
8. Texas Tech
9. Kansas St
10. Kansas

Offensive: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St
Defensive: Travis Lewis, LB, Oklahoma

MOUNTAIN WEST
BYU and Utah bolted the conference, but they added Boise State, to make the conference relevant for one more season before TCU bolts for greener pastures as well. It should be an interesting year, though, as TCU travels to Boise in early November.
Order of Finish:
1. TCU
2. Boise St
3. Air Force
4. San Diego St
5. Wyoming
6. Colorado St
7. UNLV
8. New Mexico

Offensive: Kellen Moore, QB, Boise St
Defensive: Tejay Johnson, S, TCU

PAC-12
What a year for the Pac-12. They added a conference championship along with 2 brand new media markets and they got a team to the National Championship Game and they competed with the SEC. This should be one of the more intriguing conferences this season as we see how the new divisions shake out.
North:
1. Oregon
2. Stanford
3. Cal
4. Oregon St
5. Washington
6. Washington St

South:
1. USC*(ineligible for postseason play)
2. Arizona
3. Arizona St
4. Utah
5. UCLA
6. Colorado

Title Game: Oregon over Arizona

Offensive: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
Defensive: Vontaze Burfict, LB, Arizona St

SEC
The SEC just keeps on going, with yet another BCS Championship under their belt. Don't expect this year to be any different, as they have 3 national title contenders in the West Division alone.
East:
1. Florida
2. South Carolina
3. Tennessee
4. Georgia
5. Kentucky
6. Vanderbilt

West:
1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Arkansas
4. Mississippi St
5. Auburn
6. Ole Miss

Title Game: Alabama over Florida

Offensive: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
Defensive: Courtney Upshaw, LB, Alabama

Winners:
Conference USA: Central Florida
MAC: Miami OH
Sun Belt: Florida International
WAC: Nevada

BCS GAMES
Rose Bowl: Nebraska over Oregon
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma over Stanford
Orange Bowl: Florida St over West Virginia
Sugar Bowl: LSU over Texas A&M
BCS Title Game: Alabama over Wisconsin

HEISMAN
1. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
2. Kellen Moore, QB, Boise St
3. Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
4. Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St
5. Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma

It should be a great season and I cannot wait to get it underway on September 1st! Good luck to everyone's teams, but especially, "Gig 'Em Fightin' Texas Aggies" and "C-A-N-E-S, CANES!"

Let's talk NFL Lockout

Look, it's about time they got this thing done. I mean, come on, just come to an agreement! You are ALL multi-millionaires and I understand, Players Union, that you have to look out for the rookies and such, but I mean, come on, is it a huge deal if someone makes 1.3 million their first year rather than 1.5? The players simply need to vote to ratify this thing so we can get football back on track already before it's too late. Everyone knows that I like college football better than the NFL, but what would I do on Sundays? And what would I do with the time I normally spend on Fantasy Football? Ray Lewis was right, the crime rate will go up. Not only from the players and their entourages having more time on their hands, but also everyone who has all this extra time because there is no Fantasy Football to focus on. Players, you are losing the PR battle to the Owners right now, and I know that you supposedly don't care about your public image, but, really, you do care. Look, just pass this thing and we will get football and fantasy back on track and give the people what they want.

Angels 1, Rangers 0

What a brutal way to lose a game. I know Jered Weaver is a great pitcher, but when you get runners on base in nearly every inning, it is unacceptable to not score at least one run. I'm not going to hate on Endy even though he essentially cost us the game with his error. He has been fantastic for us filling a major need we had with that guy, #29, can't really remember his (worthless) name at this point, it is just unfortunate that his one error in 39 games this year was so magnified due to the loss. Anyways, that's all I have to say about this game today. Great pitching by CJ, but an infuriating loss.

Why the debacle of the US Women's Soccer Team should be considered a choke

Alright, look, I don't like to say anyone choked because I'm not out there on the field or the ice or the diamond or the pitch or what have you, but this was clearly a case of a major choke. It was clear to anyone watching that the United States were the better team, and there was hardly an argument against this point. So, being the better team, it can only be considered a choke when you, not once, but TWICE, have a goal lead with under 10 minutes to play and cannot maintain the deficit and win the game. There is no other word for it when the better team has a lead and manages to lose. The '06 Finals with the Mavericks was the only choke I can remember on such a big stage that was bigger than this one. So, I'm sorry to Hope Solo and Alex Morgan ( I still love both of you) and Rapinoe and Wambach and whoever else is out there, but you CHOKED.
